“We are talking about a violation of state law,” Medford Police Chief Tim George said. “You can’t sell marijuana. Period.”

Part of the investigation included controlled buys at the locations. Over the two years, police witnesses made multiple buys at the listed businesses, according to a press release from the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team.

The suspects face conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, marijuana, within 1,000 feet of a school, unlawful delivery and manufacture of marijuana.

Two of the suspects were leaders at SO-Norml.

Fifty-year-old Laura Ruth Duckworth, SO-Norml’s executive director, was arrested on the suspicion of conspiracy to commit unlawful delivery of marijuana within a 1,000 feet of a school.

Forty-nine year-old Leland Arden Duckworth, SO-Norml president, was arrested on the suspicion of conspiracy to commit unlawful delivery of marijuana within a 1,000 feet of a school.
