What an amazing time we all had at the Machine Head performance at the Hawthorne Theatre in Portland Oregon Wednesday night, June 26th. Let me start by saying I didn’t work this show, so please excuse some left-open channels as we flip through the dominating performance given by Bay Area Thrashers, Machine Head!

Remember back when in a long term relationship after things go a lil sour and you two break up? Then you think it’s time to move on, you find someone else, get laid and now you’re back, energized and feeling invigorated? Well, that could give you an exaggerated sense of what Rob Flynn and the rest of the Machine Head dudes must have felt after the arrival of new bassist Jared MacEachern. By default, it’s no question for Machine Head fans all eyes would be on Jared and disappoint Jared did not. Feeling like, looking like, and obviously schooling pages from acclaimed former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, Jared seems to have been able to bestir the Machine Head Anger and Power back to a level of Trepidation!

Continuing to tour from the brilliant 2011 release “Onto the Locust”, the packed Portland crowd couldn’t have Rocked any harder after Machine Head’s 4 year absence from the city of WEED, oops I mean Roses. Quenching our Metal thirst with tracks like Halo, Imperium, Aesthetics of Hate, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, American High, Darkness Within, and many other standout gems, Machine Head punched and THRASHED with authority! Shouting out the electric crowd more than once, it seems Rob Flynn, guitars/vocals, Phil Demmel, guitars, Jared MacEachern, bass, and Dave McCain on drums enjoyed Portland as much as any tour journey this year.

There is no doubt Machine Head is poised and ready for another chapter of their Metal acceptance. If Machine Head is travelling to a town near you then there is only one thing to do, put down the bong or remote and give yourself a night out with Machine Head! This band is for real and always has been, cheersz to Rob Flynn and the Machine Head crew, you guys Rule!
